Worth every page
Finally, a book that treats programming with the care it deserves.
There is a particular kind of technical book that is dense without being difficult, and this is one of them. A few of the examples could be more realistic, but the underlying points come across clearly. Some terminology is introduced without much ceremony; I had to look a few things up along the way. Worth the money and the reading time, without hesitation.
An enjoyable and informative read, though it could have been shorter.
I picked this up after getting stuck on a project and it turned out to be exactly the right book at the right time. The progression from chapter to chapter is well thought out; nothing feels out of order. The author clearly knows the subject deeply and has thought hard about how to teach it. The chapters on psychology are the strongest — the examples are stripped down but complete, and I could follow along without constant guessing. Worth picking up if you already have the basics. Set realistic expectations and you will get a lot out of it.
I have read a lot of books on this subject and this is the clearest.
I came to this book already familiar with the basics, and it still had plenty to offer. The examples are small enough to type out and experiment with, which is exactly what I want from a book like this. The book rewards careful reading. Skimming it would be a mistake. An easy five stars from me. I look forward to whatever the author writes next.
Genuinely excellent — I finished it in a week and immediately started again.
I have been working with windows desktop for a few years now and I still found plenty here that was new to me. Some of the material is available elsewhere, but rarely presented this clearly. Some terminology is introduced without much ceremony; I had to look a few things up along the way. One of those books that pays for itself within the first few chapters. Highly recommended.
Solid and well-organised. A couple of chapters dragged a little.
This is the third book I have read on webgpu this year, and it is comfortably the best of them. The writing is direct and does not waste space on filler, which I value in a technical book. The code samples assume a particular environment, which took a bit of fiddling to get running properly. The explanations are careful without being condescending, which is a difficult balance to strike. A good addition to a technical library, as long as you know what you are buying.
A genuinely enjoyable read that also taught me a great deal.
I bought this on a whim after seeing it mentioned in a forum thread, and I am glad I did. Some terminology is introduced without much ceremony; I had to look a few things up along the way. The early chapters move quickly through material I already knew, but the later sections were genuinely new to me. Worth the money and the reading time, without hesitation.
